Where it works

Use a repeatable rail route where materials move between established stations. The route, stopping positions and loading interfaces are defined together so the vehicle fits the production or storage layout.

What it does

  1. Rail guidance defines a fixed travel corridor.

  2. Heavy-duty load platform configured for the material and station.

  3. Control interfaces can link vehicle movement with the handling process.

Heavy-duty rail guided vehicle (RGV)

Technical introduction

Structure and operating principle

A rail guided vehicle transfers heavy loads along a fixed track between factory workstations and warehouse handover points.

Rail guidance constrains the vehicle to a fixed corridor. The load deck, travel drive, positioning controls and station interfaces form a transfer system; rail guidance does not itself prevent access to the vehicle path.

  • Rail guidance defines a fixed travel corridor.
  • Heavy-duty load platform configured for the material and station.
  • Control interfaces can link vehicle movement with the handling process.

Application and selection

For repeated station-to-station material flow in a production line or warehouse. Guarding and access arrangements depend on whether the vehicle operates in an enclosed automatic cell or a shared work area.

Working method

  1. Before work, authorised personnel confirm the load and its centre of gravity, the permitted machine configuration, the route and receiving position. Complete the checks specified for the equipment, verify protective functions by the approved method and stop if a defect affects safe operation.

  2. Confirm the receiving station is ready and its transfer equipment cannot move unexpectedly, secure the load and authorise travel. At arrival, confirm position and immobilisation before the loading mechanism transfers the goods.

  3. After the task, place the load on stable supports and leave the equipment in its prescribed safe state. Record faults and abnormal events. Maintenance or jam clearance requires secure isolation of relevant energy, including stored hydraulic, pneumatic and gravitational energy.

Precautions and maintenance

Protect rail crossings and crush zones at end stations. A rail-guided vehicle should not automatically be declared compliant with the driverless-truck standard; establish the applicable machinery standard from the complete system. EN 528 is relevant only where its storage/retrieval scope is met.

Inspection frequency, wear/discard criteria, lubrication, brake adjustment and replacement parts follow the supplied instructions and applicable local requirements. Only competent personnel may maintain the equipment; return to service follows the prescribed checks.

Configuration and standards

This is an equipment-selection and operating-principle overview, not a complete operator manual, lift plan or certificate. Verify rated load, duty, geometry, environment and protective functions against the nameplate, approved drawings and delivered instructions. Do not combine separate series maxima into one promised configuration.

Requirements follow the destination and installation, not the website language. China: determine the applicable GB/T references and statutory equipment obligations. EAEU destinations: check the applicable TR CU/EAEU regulations, amendments and conformity documents. English-speaking markets: select the relevant national rules; US OSHA and UK HSE references are not universal law. EU projects require their own applicable conformity assessment.
